See "filelist.txt" in this folder for a complete list of files on the server. Files are listed in their order on the disk, not necessarily in alphabetical order, though they are re-sorted alphabetically on a regular basis. Files or folders may have been added, modified, deleted, moved or renamed since the list was generated. Both normal and passive ftp transfers are supported. For best results when using a web browser, switch from folder view to normal view in order to see the full file names. In Internet Explorer for example, uncheck "Enable folder view for ftp sites" in Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced. If you have trouble directly clicking on files in a web browser window, try using a right mouse click and Save As... instead. The server is up most of the time, but may occasionally be down if I'm upgrading or otherwise tinkering with it. No guarantees, use this server and the information it contains at your own risk. Upload bandwidth is limited by my provider (Teksavvy.com) to 768 kBps. Sorry, there's nothing I can do to increase it. At least they're kind enough to allow small ftp/web servers at all, unlike most cable/telco providers. Hey, whaddaya want for free? :-) Since I now pay for excessive bandwidth use, there are limitations on the Anonymous login account. These are shown upon login and may include transfer quotas, ratios, login and idle time-outs, total logins at once, maximum logins per IP address, and/or bandwidth throttling. Current settings are a maximum of five anonymous users, with a limit of two connections per IP address. There is a 30-minute connection limit and a two-minute idle timeout. These settings may change at any time if abuse is detected, and abusers' domains and/or IP address ranges will be permanently banned. All connections and transfers are permanently logged. The server may be shut down near the end of the month if the remaining transfer quota is running dangerously low or if I need the bandwidth for other purposes. Popular ("Top 100") tunes from the 1950's onward are located in the decade folders. Songs are usually filed by date of release, not necessarily of peak popularity. Keep in mind I probably have more songs by the same artists in other decade or category folders. Special types of music (Jazz/ Instrumental, Christmas, Newfoundland, Country/Folk/Traditional, etc.) along with Comedy, Radio Shows/Spoken Word, Showtunes, Sound Effects, TV/Movie and Wrestling Themes are filed in their own category folders. TV and movie music and instrumentals that reached the Top 40 are generally filed under the appropriate decade folder, though there are some exceptions (Where do you put an instrumental TV theme that hit the top 40?). Discs in the temporary DVD drive are rotated regularly, and typically contains a library of schematic diagrams for antique radios in PDF format scanned from the original John F. Rider manuals, along with an original radio study course from NRI. Most MP3s on the server are at 128 kBps / 44 kHz. Some obscure titles are lower than this until I can find better copies, or higher than this until I get a chance to resample them down to a more manageable size. Most files contain a valid ID3 tag. Please let me know if you find any with serious dropouts, noise, truncation, incorrect artist/title tags, or other problems. Tagging is reasonably complete in the decade folders, but is rather spotty in the other category folders. Please note that some items in the Comedy section may not be suitable for younger children (or people with no sense of humour). Many of the Audio Book folders also contain the original works in text file format for reading.
